A huge well done to all the budding artists and crafters who joined our Secondary lunchtime Art Club this year. It has been wonderful to see so many young people bringing their creativity, enthusiasm and imagination to our weekly sessions. Despite our short lunchtime slots, we managed to fit in a fantastic range of projects throughout the year. From creepy stick bugs and spooky spider webs to beautiful stained glass leaves, there was always something new to create and explore. We experimented with air dry clay models, made Christmas decorations, festive houses and cards, designed pin badges and magnets, created spring wreaths and potted flowers, threaded beaded bracelets, and finished the year with a watercolour project inspired by something we love. (Along the way, we may have created a few more things too — there were so many brilliant ideas and projects that it’s hard to remember them all!) Everyone worked incredibly hard, developed new skills and, most importantly, had fun while exploring different materials and techniques. It has been fantastic to see confidence grow, ideas develop and individual creativity shine through. We hope Art Club has inspired you to keep making, crafting and being creative over the summer holidays. Whether it’s painting, drawing, building or trying something completely new, we hope you continue to enjoy the process of creating. Here are a few photos of some of the amazing projects made this year. It can sometimes be tricky to capture everything, as many artists are understandably keen to take their finished creations home as soon as they are complete - which is a lovely sign of how proud they are of their work! Well done everyone, and thank you for making Art Club such a fun and creative place to be!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Class 4’s sunflower project this year. The young people have loved seeing the photographs of your sunflowers and have enjoyed carefully measuring and ordering them to find out which ones grew the tallest. We were amazed by the fantastic results! The tallest sunflower in the primary category reached an impressive 170cm, while the tallest secondary sunflower grew to an incredible 210cm. The adult category was won by Miss Marks’ grandparents, whose sunflower measured a remarkable 229cm. We think this could be a world record! Miss Marks’ Nan was delighted to receive a phone call sharing the exciting news. Well done to everyone who took part, and a special thank you to Class 4 for their fantastic work organising and celebrating this wonderful project. We hope to see even more impressive sunflowers growing next year!

Young people from Classes 1–4 recently enjoyed an exciting visit to Hollywood Bowl as part of their Hobbies and Interests topic. The trip gave everyone the opportunity to develop confidence, social skills and teamwork while enjoying a fun activity together. There were plenty of cheers throughout the afternoon as the young people celebrated great shots and encouraged one another. Special congratulations go to our high scorers and two young people who hit strikes. More importantly though, every young person showed excellent sportsmanship, celebrated each other's successes and demonstrated the positive values that make Fairmead School such a supportive community. The smiles on everyone's faces showed just how much fun the day had been, and the visit provided another wonderful opportunity for our young people to learn through shared experiences beyond the classroom.

Fairmead School would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Westlands for their support with football training throughout the year. The coaching sessions have provided our young people with valuable opportunities to develop football skills, improve teamwork and build confidence in a positive and encouraging environment. Through regular training, our young people have strengthened their technical ability while also learning the importance of communication, resilience and respect. We are incredibly grateful for the time, expertise and encouragement that Westlands has given our young people, helping them enjoy sport and achieve their personal best. Thank you for being such an important part of our sporting journey this year - we look forward to working together again in the future.

Fairmead School's talented Signing Choir proudly represented the school at the Yeovil Together Festival, where they delivered three wonderful performances for the audience. Their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication shone through every song. The choir's performance impressed both the audience and judges, resulting in them being awarded the School Shield - a fantastic achievement that reflects the commitment of every young person involved. Taking part in community events such as the festival helps pupils develop confidence, communication skills and a sense of pride in representing their school. The choir demonstrated all of these qualities while performing with enthusiasm and enjoyment. Congratulations to every member of the Signing Choir on this well-deserved success. You have made the whole Fairmead community incredibly proud.

As part of their Hobbies and Interests unit, a group of young people enjoyed an exciting visit to Summerhayes Fisheries, where they experienced the fun and challenge of fishing in a beautiful outdoor setting. Throughout the session, they learned about fishing techniques, patience and working safely around the water. Their perseverance paid off as they successfully caught four fish, making the day even more memorable. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to develop confidence, resilience and an appreciation of the natural environment while trying a new activity. It was wonderful to see everyone supporting one another and celebrating each success. Well done to our young people for making the most of this fantastic opportunity.

Our athletics team recently took part in a competition at Bucklers Mead School, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. The team showed fantastic determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day, giving their best in every event. Their hard work paid off as they finished in an impressive second place, bringing home silver medals. Congratulations to everyone who took part – you represented us brilliantly and should be very proud of your success. Well done to all involved!

Our young people recently travelled to Bridgwater to take part in an inclusive cricket competition, and it was a fantastic day for everyone involved. The group represented themselves brilliantly, listening carefully to instructions, supporting one another, and taking part with enthusiasm throughout the event. Their positive attitude, teamwork, and willingness to get involved made the day a great success. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the experience, building confidence, and celebrating their achievements. A great day out was had by all, and we are incredibly proud of how well the young people participated. We look forward to taking part in more events like this in the future.

There were celebrations all round as a team of young people achieved an outstanding gold medal at a recent athletics event held at Millfield School in Street. Competing against other schools, our young people demonstrated determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the competition. Every member of the team gave their very best effort, encouraging one another and proudly representing Fairmead School. Their positive attitude and commitment resulted in a fantastic team performance, earning them first place and a well-deserved gold medal. Sport plays an important role in developing confidence, communication and perseverance, and our athletes demonstrated all of these qualities during the event. Their success is a reflection of the hard work they have put into developing their skills throughout the year. Huge congratulations to every young person who took part - we are incredibly proud of your fantastic achievement.

Young people from Classes 1–4 recently enjoyed a lively game of musical bingo as part of their Hobbies and Interests topic. This wasn't an ordinary game of bingo – some numbers were accompanied by a well-known song, creating plenty of opportunities for dancing, laughter and shared enjoyment. As the music played, the young people enthusiastically joined in, showing off their dance moves while eagerly watching their bingo cards. The activity encouraged communication, listening skills, turn-taking and social interaction, all while creating a fun and relaxed learning environment. Experiences like these help our young people build confidence and develop friendships through shared activities. It was difficult to decide which was the best part - the exciting bingo game or the enthusiastic dancing - but one thing is certain: everyone had a fantastic time.

Following our exciting cricket coaching session with the Somerset Cricket Foundation, one young person received special recognition for their outstanding enthusiasm, determination and sporting attitude throughout the day. He was named Cricket Player of the Day. Impressing the coaches with his positive attitude, willingness to learn and excellent effort during every activity. Achievements like this demonstrate that success in sport is about much more than winning. Showing resilience, encouraging others and always trying your best are qualities we value highly at Fairmead and this young person was a fantastic role model throughout the session.

Although the first scheduled cricket competition had to be cancelled because of the weather, our young people certainly didn't let the rain spoil the fun. Instead, we welcomed Ben and Sean from the Somerset Cricket Foundation, who visited school to deliver an exciting cricket skills session. Ben and Sean introduced a range of activities designed to develop batting, bowling, catching and teamwork skills. The session was packed with energy, encouragement and plenty of opportunities for everyone to improve their confidence while trying something new. The visit highlighted the importance of staying active, learning new skills and enjoying sport regardless of the weather. The young people demonstrated fantastic enthusiasm throughout the session and had a brilliant time developing their cricket techniques. A huge thank you to the Somerset Cricket Foundation for providing such an enjoyable and inspiring experience for our young people.
