Ofsted Report

Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services, and Skills) is a government department responsible for inspecting and regulating services that care for young people. Its main focus is on the quality of education in schools, colleges, and other educational settings, as well as young people's social care services. Ofsted inspects and reports on how well these institutions are performing, offering ratings. The new framework uses the following grades: exceptional, strong standard, expected standard, needs attention, and urgent improvement. Previously, the four-point scale was outstanding, good, requires improvement, and inadequate. These reports then help to inform parents, schools, and government policy.
