September was a very exciting and busy month for Class 8! We took part in lots of different activities that helped us learn new skills, gain knowledge, and have fun together. One of the highlights was our life skills cooking activity . We learned how to prepare simple and healthy dishes, and everyone enjoyed working as a team in the kitchen. It was a great chance to practice independence and see how much fun cooking can be. Some of our classmates also took part in first aid training . Knowing these skills is really important, and it made us feel more confident about helping others in case of an emergency. In our history lessons, we gained a lot of new knowledge about World War II . Overall, September was packed with learning experiences, both inside and outside the classroom. We’re looking forward to seeing what October brings!

Squirrel class have been looking at 'A little bit brave' in English. Logan the rabbit went on an adventure - but he got lost! We had to find him in the forest school area. While we were looking, we found lots of conkers, sticks, acorns and leaves and put them next to a descriptive word. Thankfully Logan was found on top of the forest school hut!

In Fox class this term we have been very busy exploring our Life Skills curriculum. Our focus is ‘Independent living’, so we have been practising skills for independence, including being safe when out in the community, cooking, shopping and cleaning. We have visited a range of different shops, where we have followed adult instructions and helped to read shopping lists to buy ingredients to cook with. We’ve enjoyed looking at all the different items we can buy in shops, and it is always exciting to go out in the people carrier! It has been tricky at times to stick to only picking up the items on our shopping lists and to wait in the queue to pay for our shopping, but the adults have been very proud of how sensible and safe Fox class have been when out in the community! When back at school, we have loved using our ingredients to cook with, making yummy toast and delicious pizzas! We always remember to wash our hands before we cook, and to make sure we are safe in the kitchen. We have also been exploring different ways we can keep our environments clean, including sweeping, hanging washing and even washing the Fox class windows! Next half term we will be continuing to practice these skills and even make our own ‘How to...’ class book to give people instructions for a range of life skills tasks.

Class 2 have been learning all about personal care this week, which included an exciting trip to our local Boots store. Armed with our shopping lists, we searched the aisles to find the items we needed and compared the prices of different hand soaps. Before leaving, we couldn’t resist visiting the Christmas aisle! Everyone loved seeing the shelves filled with shiny, glittering decorations and festive new stock. It was a wonderful way to finish our outing — full of learning and a little bit of sparkle!
