On Thursday 5th March 2026, Fairmead School came alive with stories, imagination, and creativity as young people and staff celebrated World Book Day together.

The school was filled with excitement as many young people and staff arrived dressed as their favourite book characters. From classic story heroes to modern favourites, the costumes brought much-loved books to life and created a colourful, fun atmosphere throughout the day.

A variety of book-themed activities took place across the school. The young people enjoyed book themed quizzes, while book swap sessions gave everyone the chance to discover something new to read. These activities encouraged our young people to talk about the books they love and share recommendations with their friends.

There was a real buzz in the air throughout the day, with reading, storytelling, and laughter happening in every corner of the school. Events like these are a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of books and remind everyone how powerful stories can be in bringing people together.

We hope all of our young people enjoyed the celebrations and felt inspired to keep exploring new books and sharing their love of reading. World Book Day was a fantastic reminder that a good story can open the door to imagination, adventure, and learning.
