Mindfulness

At Fairmead, we take time each day to do mindfulness. This is a special time to help our brains and bodies get ready for learning.

Mindfulness means paying attention to the present moment - to how we feel, how we breathe, and what’s happening around us - without rushing or worrying.

Sometimes, moving from one activity to another can feel tricky. Mindfulness helps us calm down, focus, and feel ready for what comes next. It’s like pressing a little “pause” button so we can reset and do our best work.

In those few quiet minutes, we might notice our breathing, listen carefully, or think about something that makes us feel safe and calm. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference - helping us to learn, focus, and feel good.

In Secondary and Upper Primary, we use the video below to guide our mindfulness practice. During this time, you are expected to sit still, remain silent, and keep your hands free so that you can stay focused and avoid distracting others.

In Primary, we use the video below to guide our mindfulness practice. During this time, try your best to sit quietly, keep your hands to yourself, and focus on what we’re doing. This helps you and your friends do your best learning.
