Class 4 had a truly fantastic morning exploring the world of work during our visit to Westlands Entertainment Venue. The trip gave our young people an exciting opportunity to step beyond the classroom and see first-hand how a busy entertainment venue operates behind the scenes.

We were warmly welcomed by Martin, the Marketing Manager, who generously gave his time to show us around. From the moment we arrived, the young people were buzzing with curiosity. Martin explained the wide range of roles involved in running the venue, from marketing and event planning to hospitality and customer service, helping everyone understand just how many different skills are needed to make events successful.

The highlight of the morning was when the young people were invited to step into some of these roles themselves. They eagerly took on practical tasks, laying up tables ready for guests, changing a promotional poster, and topping up flyers and brochures to ensure visitors had the information they needed. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, teamwork and attention to detail as the young people embraced each responsibility.

Experiences like this are invaluable in helping our young people connect their learning to the wider community. Seeing how communication, organisation and creativity are used in real-life settings brings classroom lessons to life and helps our young people to start thinking about future possibilities.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Martin and all the staff at Westlands for making us feel so welcome. Your time, patience and encouragement made the visit both memorable and inspiring for our young people. We are very grateful for the opportunity and look forward to future partnerships that continue to broaden horizons and spark ambition.
