Diversity and Inclusivity Day – Friday 6th May 2022
On Friday 6th May, Fairmead School were proud to welcome the return of a day devoted to exploring and understanding diverse and inclusive communities.
We were pleased to welcomed Shelley, our local representative from 2BU, an organisation that supports young people who have questions around identity and inclusion and offer local support groups in the area. Pupils enjoyed taking part in the drop-in sessions that Shelley ran in which badge making and informal chats were on offer.
Before lunch pupils took part in activities to enhance their awareness of the diversity that is present within our school community and then researched significant historical figures who may have experienced challenges in their lives due to discrimination.
After lunch, an explosion of colour encased the field and playground as the whole-school joined together and embarked on our first-ever colour run. What an experience! The pictures speak for themselves.
Our diversity and inclusivity day continues to be an important and enjoyable part of the Fairmead annual calendar.
